Time Slice 2006

Crystalline tree sculpture in glass vitrine.

This piece was made as part of the Cell project. The tree form is grown over a 3 day period in the gallery using super-saturation.

The crystal tree alludes to a particular sensation of time passing, slowly. We understand that it has been growing at a rate we cannot perceive and that there was an initial time of bare string ‘branches’, and the implication is that the structure will continue to grow in our absence until the delicate transparent string structure is encumbered by crystals.
