James Edwards describes taking the car to the 40th reunion for Can Am cars.

This is the equivalent to the interseries in Europe, held  at Road America. He reports that the car was very well received, and seen by a contingent from the New Zealand section of the McLaren Trust. He says, "...including a number of former McLaren employees who knew your father and remembered the car. [They] were astonished to see an original, unmolested example of the era. I was told it may be one of only two or three original chassis to exist. ... Amanda McLaren, Bruce's daughter, was fitted into the car for a drive around. She chose this car because she had never ridden in one and the M6 GT was her Dad's favourite project before his death.

... We had a long weekend of the usual problems with a car fresh from a rebuild. Fortunately it went on the trailer in one piece, unlike a number of other cars. I'm now preparing it for the Monterey Historics."
