Distinctions and Counterposes

An image of the 3D computer data based anonymised MRI data of a healthy human heart, provided by Richard Coulden. This data was in the form of a series of black and white images. Tony Brown from Materialise RapidParts (UK) translated these black and white images into the 3D computer file seen above. The 3D heart data was "made real" with help from Dr. Adrian Bowyer, using a Rapid Prototyping Machine in Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, University of Bath. The RP machine produced highly detailed solid plastic objects directly from the 3D computer data (accurate to .1mm).

Thanks to Dr. Adrian Bowyer, University of Bath;Tony Brown, Materialise RapidParts (UK); and Richard Coulden, Consultant Radiologist, Papworth Hospital NHS Trust
